About

Courtney Lassiter currently studies at Davidson College and is double majoring in Studio Art and Film, Media, & Digital Studies.

Born and raised on a farm in rural North Carolina, the time and place which served to shape her, Lassiter later moved to Davidson to pursue her creative education. She has since lived for two summers in Berlin, where she completed her documentary Diese Alten Punks and her cultural exploration project The Lives We Leave Behind, and studied at Temple University in Rome, where she expanded upon ideas regarding nightlife and the politics of space.

My current multidisciplinary creative practice spans studio art (primarily mixed-media drawings and paintings), film (including documentary and animation), memoirism and more.

Through my work, I seek to explore and begin critical conversations upon the topics most central to my life – youth subcultures, the politics of space, nightlife, depersonalization, and sexuality – all while working from a global perspective influenced by my working travels.
